Begin the pilgrimage to Lithuania in Vilnius where Saint Faustina received her revelations and visions of Our Lord. Visit the Shrine of the Divine Mercy as you venerate the original image of Divine Mercy. Continue to the House of Saint Faustina.
Enjoy a stroll through the winding streets of Vilnius’ Old Town and visit Užupis Republic to see some of the main sights including the landmark bronze statue of the Angel of Užupis and the plaque with Užupis residents’ Constitution. Visit the medieval capital, Trakai, known for its Gothic Castle set on an island. Here you will see the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary before making it back to Vilnius Old Town to visit St. Peter and Paul’s Church.
Following St John Paul II’s route, travel to Kaunas and pass by the cities of Pivasiunai and Marijampole. Discover Kaunas city and view its thirteenth century Castle, the Town Hall Square and the Jesuit Church. Take a trip to Siluva, the most important pilgrimage site in Lithuania, where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared 400 years ago in one of Europe’s first Marian apparitions.
In Siauliai, pilgrims will visit the Cathedral of the Apostles Saints Peter and Paul and continue to the Hill of Crosses. At present some 200,000 crosses of various sizes adorn the hill, people manifested their devotion to Christ, prayed for his help and marked Lithuania as a Christian land. Continue then to Samogitian Calvary, to visit its Way of the Cross where 20 stations were created here in 1639.
